Recommended second hand family cars

The family car market is one of the world’s most competitive sectors as there is a huge range of models to choose from. Most models are now solidly built, practical and cheap to run, yet fun to drive. To narrow your search I have compiled a list of some of my favourite family cars on the market today.

A Used Ford B-MAX would be the first car to make my list, the reason being is that it’s family-focused in terms of practicality but in a smaller car. Restriction into the cabin is reduced due to the fact the pillars have being removed and replaced with  big sliding rear doors making access in and out easier. The B-MAX is stylish to look at and has excellent economy of 70mpg and is even fun to drive as a Ford Fiesta. The B-MAX unfortunately doesn’t come in a seven-seat option like some of the other family cars.

The family car list wouldn’t be complete unless the Ford Focus was included. The Focus has a reputation for its excellent handling, stylish interior and plenty of practicality. I feel the Focus beats the nearest rival which is the Volkswagen Golf in terms of handling and comfort The Focus engine offers a good blend of economy and performance and manages 67mpg. In my opinion the Focus is the most fun to drive in its class and is extremely safe and comes complete with plenty of gadgets. The Focus does come with a high price tag especially for the top-spec models and the boot could be bigger too.

The Used Citroen C4 Picasso has space-age looks that does a good job in masking the people carrier body style effectively more so can its rival the Used Ford C-MAX. The interior is modern and practical, with sliding rear seats and a body that can increase double in size. The economy is 74mpg which is better than the other two and makes it extremely cheap to run. As mentioned earlier the style may be nicer than its main rival the C-MAX but I don’t feel it necessary drives as nice.
